2016 8th Grade End of the Year Information

Dear Eighth Grade Parent/Guardian:

The second semester is underway and there are several activities planned to celebrate the culmination of your child’s hard work.  The following are reminders for you.  A signature page is included with this mailing.  It must be signed and returned to school by Friday, March 4, to allow your child’s full participation in all of our activities.

  • Qualifications for 8th grade activities
    • Students must meet academic and behavioral qualifications to participate in the 8th grade activities.  Students who have 2 or more F’s on their grade check prior to the events will be ineligible.
    • Students who have 10 points for inappropriate behavior will be ineligible.  All eighth grade students will begin with 0 points on Monday, March 7.  If a student earns 10 points by June 8, he or she will NOT be allowed to attend the events listed below.
  • Bancroft’s Promotional Activities
    • Eighth Grade Awards Night: On Monday, June 13, we have a very special evening at Long Beach City College Auditorium beginning at 6:00 p.m. Our awardees are invited to attend with their parents to be recognized for their accomplishments at Bancroft.  Letters of invitation and tickets will be mailed to parents of recipients prior to the evening. Each awardee will receive (3) three tickets. Additional tickets may be available. There is a fee to park at LBCC.
    • Eighth Grade Activity: This event will be held on Friday, June 10. Additional information on this exciting evening will be distributed in April.
    • Eighth Grade Picnic/Class Video: On Tuesday, June 14, 8th graders will be invited to a movie and a chance to view their 8th grade class video
    • Promotional Practice/Eighth Grade Picnic/Activity: On Wednesday, June 15, we have a picnic/activity at CSULB after the promotional practice at LBCC.  Students who are eligible for promotion and participated in the morning practice can enjoy this fun afternoon.
    • Promotional Ceremony:  On Thursday, June 16, at 9:30 a.m., we will conduct our promotional ceremony in the large gym at Long Beach City College (see enclosed map). There are no balloons allowed due to airport safety rules. Please arrive early to purchase a parking pass from machines in lots J or M or purchase you parking pass at school in June.
