2017 8th Grade Activities

  • Qualifications for 8th grade activities
    • Students must meet academic and behavioral qualifications to participate in the 8th grade activities.  Students who have 2 or more F’s or U's on their grade check prior to the events will be ineligible. 
    • Students who have 6 points for inappropriate behavior will be ineligible.  All eighth grade students will begin with 10 points on in March.  If a student loses points by June 8th, they will be ineligible for activities and/or promotion.
  • Bancroft’s Promotional Activities
    • Eighth Grade Awards Night: On Monday, June 12, we have a very special evening at Long Beach City College Auditorium beginning at 6:00 p.m. Our awardees are invited to attend with their parents to be recognized for their accomplishments at Bancroft.  Letters of invitation and tickets will be mailed to parents of recipients prior to the evening. Each awardee will receive (3) three tickets. Additional tickets may be available. There is a fee to park at LBCC.
    • Eighth Grade Activity: This event will be held on Tuesday, June 13. Eligible students can enjoy the day at Knott's Berry Farm.  All students must take the bus to and from Knott's.  Ticket and transportation is $40 and Transportation Only ( Student has a pass) is $10.  Departing time is 9:30am and Return time is 7pm.
    • Eighth Grade Picnic/Class Video: On Wednesday, June 14, 8th graders will be invited to a movie and a chance to view their 8th grade class video
    • Promotional Practice/Eighth Grade Picnic: On Wednesday, June 14, we have a picnic/activity at CSULB after the promotional practice at LBCC.  Students who are eligible for promotion and participated in the morning practice can enjoy this fun afternoon.
    • Promotional Ceremony:  On Thursday, June 15, at 9:30 a.m., we will conduct our promotional ceremony in the large gym at Long Beach City College (see enclosed map). Due to LBCC Building Code/ Reconstruction : Students will receive 5 tickets each. Everyone attending Promotion must have a ticket. No strollers are allowed in the building. There are no balloons allowed due to airport safety rules. Please arrive early to purchase a parking pass from machines in lots J or M or purchase . Vehicles without parking passes will be ticketed. The ceremony will last until approximately 11:00 a.m. Since this is a major achievement for students, standards for dress and behavior have been established.  The following information outlines the dress code for the promotional ceremony.

  • Dress or skirt of appropriate length
  • Dressy rompers of appropriate length
  • Dressy pants outfit
  • Modest tops
  • Flat shoes, sandals or wedge heels
  • Dress shirts / or button down
  • Dress pants or nice colored jeans
  • Suit jacket  (nice but optional)
  • Vests and ties

Not Acceptable

  • Floor length skirt or dress
  • Formal or club type dresses
  • Strapless, tank tops,  halters, or bare midriff (shoulders must be covered)
  • Shorts, jeans, t-shirts, or athletic clothing
  • Spike or high heels not allowed.
  • No Phones during ceremony
  • Blue jeans, shorts, athletic clothing
  • T-shirts
  • Oversized clothing (baggy)
  • Tuxedos
  • No phones during ceremony
